Chapter 12 "Hash Tag YOLO"

So what is there to do on a Friday night on a mountain far away from town? No seriously what is there to do, something that didn't hurt my head the next day would be great. Please comment with suggestions, keeping in mind it is cold and a 30 minute taxi trip into town. Oh wait! and most of us are poor...

Well we had pre-drinks in Staff accommodation to lower the cost of drinks when we went out (this may not have been a success for some). Played some free pool, ping pong and fuse ball in the staff accommodation facilities and then headed to The Saloon in Silver Star Village.

There were all of The Working Holiday Club members who had just arrived on the powder express bus and just wanted some time to settle in; but I was proud of the minority that shouted "YOLO" and came to contribute to a good night.

The Saloon 23RD November 2012.
It's was a big night out with very few memories the next morning and even greater hangovers. Unfortunately Kylie was sick and didn't get to go out with us all, but she was laughing Sunday with all the stories told and making loud noises for all the sensitive ears around her.

I took a lot of photo's Friday Night that make a few of us blush and hang their heads in shame. Well played TWHC well played.

Special mention should be given to Will. My partner in crime for the night and my hang over buddy on Sunday. Thanks for making it a unforgettable night dude, here are some shots I took that night of us. Now looking back on them, your purple shirt and green hair was reminiscent of a villain in batman.

Well it's Sunday morning now and all through the dorm people are sleepy as hell. A few of the staff backed it up again last night one of them including our room mate Jake. So I want to go make some noise and stir them up and Kylie is energised and ready to have some fun in the snow.

Chapter 11 "The Start of Winter 2012/2013"

Since arriving in Silver Lodge at Silver Star Resort, Vernon BC, It has been go go go go go go... sleep... go go go... Late nights in Room *** ... go go... Trips to Vernon... Sleeping in... go go go... Eating... Snow Fights... go go go... Therefor we have had little time to sit still and report back to Y'all.

*** Room number not available until you pass initiation.

At first it was a small interment group comprising of just 9 of us in total. Now there are over 100 different staff in the accommodation and things are getting hectic. Especially last night after the 2nd Powder Express bus arrived; it was rather a big night for a lot of the crew with majority of them feeling very sore in the head this morning (I think they must have all caught the flew???)

I started training yesterday and just finished my second day in Guest Services Training. I am in love with my new job, in love with Silver Star, in love with Phil (my new boyfriend) and in love with the close net of friends we have become rather attached to.

Our highlight so far:

Prior to everyone turning up on the Powder Express with The Working Holiday Club; Phil, Kylie & Myself wanted to use our new boards. So that's exactly what we did! By standers wouldn't call it snow boarding; more so little kids excited with their new snow gear. Phil was a natural at it, I went alright but poor Kylie spent most of the time on her bottom... This is what it looked like!!!

Getting our staff passes was another highlight to us. Sure it's not as great as the 1st time we played on our snowboards; but definitely worth the mention because this is what they look like...

We thought we'd have some fun with them, wait to I get a photo of Phil's. Kylie asking for cordial & Myself phoning home with E.T. is noting compared to his...

Getting Room mates!!! (more information to come)

Along with 1st time attempts at snowboarding & getting our staff passes we witnessed heavy powder snowfall, trying a famous Long Johns Burger and watching The Avengers for he 1st time. Ok, so maybe watching The Avengers for the 1st time isn't worth mentioning... But I'm getting delirious because its early hours of the morning and I start work in a few hours. Therefore your just going to have to wait to our next post to see what us crazy clean undies freaks are up to...

Chapter 10 "Vancouver"

So on the last blog we left you off with us checking into the backpackers hostel in Vancouver and we were very excited to go down to the bar to meet up with the other Working Holiday Club members. The excitement was met with others just as excited to see some familiar faces and loads of drinks were had by all.

Heres a few photos of our first night...

The only use for condoms given to you on a street.

Kylie & I weren't too sure how we could benefit from condoms or what we could do with them. But thankfully Sam knew exactly what to do with them...

So 3 nights we're spent at the hostel in Vancouver and we only took 1 photo of the surroundings the whole time we where there and It's hardly worth showing, but since I've mentioned the photo already here it is.

This was taken from a Taxi in Vancouver.

We need to make a trip back there because Vancouver is a really beautiful place. With such little time to do everything we literally went to the bank & and got our SIN numbers sorted then went shopping every day for snowboarding gear cause it's crazy cold. At night we spent time with The Working Holiday Club members having dinner, drinks or playing Daytona at the arcade. No time was made to Tour around Vancouver so I guess this means you'll have to get yourselves there next year to see it for yourself...

*** WE WOULD INSERT PHOTOS HERE OF VANCOUVER IF WE HAD SOME***

But today we arrived at SilverStar Resort and I could not wait to take out the camera and take photos of the beautiful resort. So we checked in and got shown to our room and around the accommodation (we will show you photos  of our room once we unpack properly) then I headed out to take photos here they are...

SilverStar Resort- Vernon

These photo do not do SilverStar Justice and the crew here so far are just as beautiful. We'll we got to leave you there, as there is conversations happening around us and I don't want to be anti-social. We also need to wash some more undies because we're running out fast. So catch you all soon with photos of our rooms, clean undies and more stories to tell...

Chapter 9 "Good Bye USA, Hello Canada"

Touching lightly on our last post where we left out off in Hollywood. We finally found Ellen's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It wasn't too far from our hostel and just when we found it we realised that our camera battery was flat, our bad guys. Guess we're just going to have to try getting tickets to her show an take a photo with her there instead. We still didn't go up to the Hollywood sign and contemplated stealing one of our travels photos to show you guys, but then we considered the truth of this blog, and we really want to stay true to ourselves...

We arrived safely in San Francisco after a eight hour bus trip and have been full on since arriving. Tonight is our last night in San Francisco and we have done two days of walking this city (Thanks Brendan for today from USA Hostels for providing a fun interactive tour and a cardio work out you are awesome) We seen all it's beautiful sights like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, China Town and Pier 39.

We are fully packed and ready for sleep to begin our travel tomorrow to Vancouver after a quick stop over in Seattle. But thought why not right a quick blog and keep you all updated. Here are some pictures we took of the past 2 days in San Francisco...

San Francisco

We are excited to be catching up with The Working Holiday Club members at the hostel in Vancouver it'll be great to see some familiar faces. But right now we are going to get some sleep so we rested up for the big nights ahead with the crew in the hostel in Vancouver.

Sorry for the short blog post; but we thought it'd be nice to keep it simple considering the big events that are ahead of us. Plus we are extremely tired and it's rather hard to function when all you have done for the past 2 weeks has been walking, walking, seeing some sights, walking, staying up late, walking, moving to the next place, seeing more sights... Man we are living a great life right now, bring on more walking, lack of sleep, sight seeing, walking and late nights.

CANADA HERE WE COME, HAVE YOURSELF SOME CLEAN UNDIES READY!!!

Chapter 8 "California Dreams come to a End"

So the past three days has been pretty full on for Kylie and myself. Our last day in San Diego was spent at Sea World, yesterday was spent on the funniest shuttle bus ride ever and today was a full on day at Universal Studios. Plus a few bits and pieces that need to be mentioned in between, but let's start back off where we left...

Sea World was a great day out, very quiet in the park and we had no cues for any of the rides, some great one on one experiences with the marine animals and great seats in the grand stands for the wild life shows. For once we didn't buy any souvenirs; actually I lie, Kylie just reminded me that she bought a baseball (Kylie's collecting them now) somehow I think with the cap, shoes & now baseball collection we're not going to be able to fund a second season with The Working Holiday Club without coming back to work in Australia first or winning one of the balloon blogger comps, so on that note please support us, ask any questions and like The Working holiday Club Page on Facebook. Or donate here! Or both! Would make sense to do both really that way we are guaranteed funds of some sort...

Sea World San Diego

After a big day at Sea World we headed back to the hostel in San Diego and packed our bags, we seem to be getting better and better at it as there is more and more space with every pack. Either that or we are missing bits and pieces.

The next morning we woke up and hit the shops around San Diego and with our stomachs set on "The Counter" for lunch. Some of the guys at the hostel had rated them the "best burgers and fries" they had eaten, so we just had to check them out. We went in with our eyes bigger than our bellies but powered on through ever last bit because it was just too good to waste. You choose from a menu and tick what you want on your burger including the burger bun itself. A few minutes later the tastiest burger you've ever seen hits your taste buds and anything else from then on just doesn't hit the spot quiet the same. So get yourself to the nearest counter burger and order yourself some of those delicious sweet potato chips on the side with that mouth watering in house sauce *starts to drewl*

A tasty Treat... "The tastiest treat".
With our bellies full and our pants unzipped we climb aboard the hostel hopper that would take us back to Hollywood. This is where we met Brian, a mid 20's handsome guy (according to Cait's advice, because we really had no idea) Brian for the past few years has had his mind, heart and pen set to paper to make it big in Hollywood. With Cait on the DJ decks in the front, (strange girl's in the centre), Kylie & I in the back seats and luggage everywhere, this was guaranteed to be a fun few hours drive! No really it was, conversations were flowing, Kylie & I gifted laughter, McDonald's provided a half way toilet break & snacks and sometime in the future we can say, we knew "Brian- the producer of *insert film title here*"

Luggage in every nook and cranny...

When we got to Hollywood we went straight to sleep so we were ready for the big day ahead at Universal Studio. Besides we already had enough abdominal workout for the day from all the laughter on the trip down. We woke up bright and early and step aboard the metro to get ourselves to Universal Studios. This is what the day looked like...

Universal Studios Hollywood
And this is what it looks like when Kylie finally makes it to the Transformers Ride, meets Bumble Bee, buys all the merchandising in the shop that she possible could and repeats this several times...

Transformers!!!
The day was a blast, Kylie had heaps of fun and I enjoyed seeing her smile from ear to ear the whole day! I'm not going to enjoy trying to find extra room in our backpacks for all the Transformers merchandise tomorrow morning, but I'll definitely enjoy the memories we made today...

Tomorrow we will wake up, go find Ellen Star, take a photo of the Hollywood sign (can't believe we haven't done that yet) and climb aboard a bus to San Francisco! Leave us a comment with some ideas for San Francisco in the comment section below.

Chapter 7 "San Diego Hostel Lovin"

Never have we been in one place and felt so much love, except at a free hugs convention and I don't think thats exactly love... Checking into San Diego we didn't think it could beat Disneyland; but San Diego has yet to disappoint us; and proven that theory very wrong. Upon checking in we headed straight to the town to have a look around, well not straight more like a block south then two more left a few back north and then a massive circle, we got a tad lost. Well I wouldn't call it lost more of creating our own path to a destination that takes a lot longer, a lot! We bought some shoes & Kylie bought some caps and headed back to the hostel and had a few to drink with the others...

When we woke up yesterday we put our names on the list for Tijuana, Mexico with the hostel. We were a bit scared about wether we were doing the right thing or not; but we were not going to miss out on sombreros, tacos, coronas and mechanical bull rides.

Then we reached the boarder...

You literally just walk in... Scary...
Thoughts of turning back flushed through our minds then the thought of an amazing night quickly overpowered it. Well not completely over powered, it wasn't until we arrived at the first drinking place and had 2 margaritas & a shot for $5... It was enough to make anyone forget their fears, and self respect. Well maybe not their self respect; that part that comes after you have tequila poured down your throat by a old mexican pub owner with a whistle in  his mouth, towel in his hand, and let you ride a mechanical bull only in your jox (don't worry mum('s), that wasn't Kylie or I, it was a guy from the hostel called Ben) Sorry Ben's mum.

If that doesn't paint enough of a picture, which I suppose it doesn't because there was no brushes or even paint for that matter involved here is some images.

Tijuana, Mexico
The night was a thrill and we all got back across the boarder to USA. So all in all a success. Needless to mention that the next day (which is today) was most unproductive until about 4pm this afternoon when we all decided to hit up Ocean Beach; or O-B to the locals of San Diego; for the sunset on the cliffs. After a tram ride that had us in unexpected stitches the whole time due to Jake (bearded biker guy from Seattle) mistaking an actor for a ticket conductor (very awkward for Jake & hilarious for the rest of the passengers)... I suppose you had to be there to fully understand the situation but you didn't have to be to understand how amazing the sunset was on Ocean Beach, because here is a glimpse of what it looked like...

Ocean Beach, San Diego

Now we are sitting around the lounge room reflecting on our stay here at the hostel, a few will depart tomorrow, which is sad for the majority of those leaving us; but this girl beside us with hairy arm pits definitely won't be... The laughs will be for sure, like when we ask her to point us to exactly where the pizza joint is just to show others that we aren't lying when we tell them there are like beavers nesting in her armpits....

Kylie and I will be on our own again. But one things for sure, the memories and friendships we have made will last a lifetime. The hostel here is definitely the best thus far and I dare the universe to top it off...

GOOD NIGHT SAN DIEGO, THANK YOU!

Chapter 6 "Disney Land"

Ok so after only one night in the USA hostel we jumped online and checked out other accommodation that was more suited to our taste. The atmosphere there was good inside the hostel but Hollywood in general is not a place I would recommend to stay. Its like a black hole and to get anywhere costs a lot! Plus it was going to cost us a lot of park time in Disney land because of the bus times!

So we spent day two and night two in the hostel these are some of the pics of the things we did around Hollywood....

Day 2 Sight seeing in LA/Hollywood.
Then... we stayed here... The most magical place on Earth!

DisneyLand Paradise Pier Resort

So checking into to disneyland tripled our nightly accommodation. But it was without a doubt worth every cent (well dime here in USA). DisneyLand was one word for me "wow" Kylie literally got sick of me saying it! And our view wasn't  that of those in jail cells.

Everyone reading this blog I'm not going to tease you about how amazing DisneyLand is! BUT SERIOUSLY DISNEYLAND IS SO FREAKING RAD! Just go there already, stop reading this blog, book your accommodation, flight and tickets right now. Don't even think twice about it, you don't have to, it's Disneyland. Seriously why are you still reading this? Shouldn't you be doing your research?

Here are a few picts to entice you...

Disney Land and California Adventure Park.

And if those don't make you jealous, we met these two favourite characters...

Mickey & Minnie Mouse

Well enough of the pictures you guys will have your own memories to make here. I still don't understand why your even reading this. Don't you have a flight to catch already? But if you are Im really happy you are reading this, because there would be no real point to having a blog. Which reminds me you should really subscribe to us! Every time we have a new blog it'll shoot you a email. Well not literally shoot you, I'm not sure the technical term on the internet, but it somehow appears in your mail box.

We just checked into a San Diego Hostel and there are some cool people with great stories ready to be told sitting around us... So you'll here from us soon. Until then...

KEEP YOUR UNDIES FRESH!
