Chapter 44 "Coachella Day 2"

Ok so if you didn't think Coachella Day 1 was epic enough this is what happened on day two (after sleeping in until 11am and hosting showers for the girls that were camping)

This was the line up and we didn't know how we were going to see all the acts with so many clashing with each other...

The line up (set times)
Meeting up with our favourite ladies in front of the massive Ferris Wheel!! (Minus Nick & Spencer who took the pictures with our 4 different cameras) The other clubbers from The Working Holiday Club were M.I.A. and without mobile phones it was going to be impossible to catch up.

Gemma, Rachel, Kylie, Allira & Scarlett you can just call us "Team Amazing"

So we marched forward with the day with our small army to the Gobi Tent to see a few acts...

Bat For Lashes #shehasthevoiceofanangel #butwearstheclothesofamermaid
at the front of Major Laser
"MAJOR LAZER"

Crowd Surfing in a Zorb Ball...

Major Lazer put on such an entriguing show!!! Didn't think this was going to be the highlight for the day!!! But it was a definite highlight!!!

Fedde Le Grand was up on stage, but with all the pill poppers around and the lack of entertainment I took time to take this awesome shot!

Kylie & I at the front for Benny Benassi
Benny Benassi "No you are a Cinema, we could watch you forever"
We missed out on Yeasayer and only caught a glimps of the song "O.N.E". We then made our way to the main coachella stage to listen to our favourite acts and I caught my favourite song from The Postal Service (life is great how it works)

The Postal Service singing "Such great Heights"
Then for the performance Kylie & I had been long anticipating since 2011 when we were recommended their first album by a co-worker... (Thanks for that Mr. Humpries)

"The XX"

The performance had tears dripping down my eyes and I didn't think anything could top it off... Coachella kept doing that to us it seems... Sure we had to miss Two Door Cinema Club but definitely the right decision!!!

Then this happened...

"PHEONIX"

They kicked off the performance with their new song "Entertainment" and the crowd went insane!!!

Pheonix's lead singer being held up by the crowd singing such an incredible song "Countdown"

Oh and we had a surprise appearance from R.Kelly he sung "Ignition" into his diamond incrusted microphone & believe it or not it mixed in perfectly with Pheonix!!!

The end of Coachella Day 2 led us into deep slumber, waking up at 10am and going to bed at 3am is rather tiring expecially when you mix it with desert heat, drinking and dancing to your favourite artists...

Knowing that the next day was going to be our last day we had to make the most of it so off to bed for the night it was to prepare ourselves for day 3...

..LIFE IS GREAT WHEN YOU LIVE IT THE RIGHT...

Chapter 43 "Road trip to Coachella & Day 1"

So the end of the season for Silver Star end's at the perfect timing for Coachella Music and Arts festival in Indio, CA.

SO what did we do?

ROAD TRIP TO COACHELLA!!!

The Beast That Got Us There!!
Our #CARPOOLCHELLA
The Desert Highway to Coachella

There was 3 car loads of clubber's from silver star including us that made the journey to Coachella for weekend 1. We seen almost all of our favourite music artist all in the one location over 3 days and I can not express how complete we both feel right now (minus how exhausted we are from the madness)

Due to how awesome each day was we're going to break it up into 3 different blogs!

Starting with Day One:

The Line Up (Set Times)

Metric Performing On the Main Stage as we arrived...
Our Coachella outfits (notice the sun safety!)

Giant "MOVING" Snail.

Giant "MOVING" Insect

Alt J Performing

We missed of Monsters and Men and only just heard the end of "Little Talks" (just couldn't do everything) #guttered

We found Scarlet by chance in a crowd of 80,000 people!!! She was very dehydrated!

Passion Pit Performing on the main stage was a #HIGHLIGHT

I caught Passion Pits water bottle!!!

Passion Pit has been heavily played on my ipod for months now & seeing them perform live has made me fall deeper in love, can someone please buy me their albums on Vinyl to add to my collection (I have all their cd's already)

Coachella Ferris Wheel at dusk!!!
As the night came crawling in the festival turned into a wonderland of lights and magic!!!

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Performing on the main stage  #SoCrazy #TheirAmazing

TNGHT We showed up early to get upfront for the next act & loved them so much!
Best part about a festival is finding new talent!!!

Purity Ring Performing #shehasthevoiceofanangel

Kylie & I at the very front for TNGHT, PURITY RING & FOALS!!!
Some how we managed to push to the front for almost every act, the crowd is so tame compared to Australian music festivals... Our theory is... "Its something in the air- that their all smoking"

Foals Live & Loud all the way from LONDON!!!!
And our 2nd Favourite Act of the Day after making a way through puffs of smoke clouds to the front of Jurassic 5... (But not 2nd best, we love them just as much as Passion Pit, so please buy all the Passion Pit vinyl available)

"TEGAN AND SARA"

#Herecomestherush,beforewetouch,comealittlecloser....

Coachella Day One was Incredible... tired, but excited we left the festival ground to make it back to the resort villa where we dehydrated and rested up to do it all again the next day.

So check out our next blog to see what happened on day 2.

"Thanks for reading our blog!"

Chapter 42 "Everything comes to an end"

So the 7th of April 2013 marked the last day of the season for Silver Star Mountain Resort and there were mixed emotions all round...

For some clubbers they were ready to get the sun back onto their pasty white flesh but majority felt a sense of despair as they packed up their boards and snow gear and said good bye to:

Living on a Mountain.
The Snow.
The Snow Boarding.
The Ice Skating.
The Skiing.
Their Jobs.
Their Roommates.
Their Friends.
The Fresh Air.
The Poutine.
The Smores.
The Nights Out.
The Pubs.
The Blue Bird Days.
The Cold Canadian Nights.
To having all you friends in the one place.
To be constantly occupied by something or someone.

Thanks to everyone that made our experience incredible Kylie & I will cherish the memories forever. We wish you all the best on your next adventure in life...

Ski Season 2012/2013 you surprised us in many ways!!!

Thanks to The Working Holiday Club for making it all happen.

Chapter 41 "Wings Wednesday"

Before we arrived in Canada I didn't know that every Wednesday was going to be so delicious!!! For most people Wednesday is "hump day" the half way through the week mark, but for us clubbers it means cheap, delicious wings!!!!

It has become a ritual for us to eat wings on a Wednesday & with only a week left of the snow season at Silver Star I don't know if Wednesdays could ever be the same again for any of us...

To think of it I don't know if any day will be the same without the snow at our toe tips (not literally you'll get frostbite if you walk into the snow without your boots)

Chapter 40 "For all those new clubbers"

First of all welcome aboard to all those of you who have signed up for the experience of a life time. I know we have a few friends who have been accepted and are gathering all the information and paperwork they need to start their working holiday. We've exchanged a few emails back and forth to a few different friends and people interested and thought it'd be good to write a blog of "all that you need to know" so here it is.

1. Save!! whatever you have it's not enough! (walking into a hospital will set you back $950, catching the ambulance their an extra $650. Your travel insurance wont cover you initially you have to pay upfront; then they will re-emburst you if they accept the claim)

2. Travel Insurance this is a well discussed topic and one that you should not skimp out on. Talk to your student flight representative about your options. Compare other travel insurance companies find the best price and get your travel agent to match the price. (make sure you read the fine print & it includes snowboarding, skiing & ice skating- if you want off piste this will set you back a fortune, so if you want to save some money here stick to the designated tracks at your resorts)

3. Flights If you want to travel around first prior to arriving in Canada make sure you have all the necessary visas and on going flights so you don't get held up with the custom officers. (here's a cheeky tip: Fly into the USA and take the greyhound/AMTRAK to Canada it's cheap & if you change your  travel plans your not loosing loads of cash in doing so) In regards to prices the cheapest we found was $1200 return or $850 one way, sign up to the different websites and become best friends with your travel agent to find the best deals.

4. Luggage Most airlines will only accept 23kgs checked in baggage and a small carry on bag of 10kgs + a small backpack or hand bag (keeping in mind that your going to buy loads of stuff if your are  travelling the states first. We suggest you pack light as sending parcels back home are EXPENSIVE so be harsh when you pack)

5. Buying new winter gear & equipment This is one that was not only exciting to us when we first started the process but our biggest puzzle as what to do. We decided to buy it in Vancouver as they offer decent prices and quality gear (some Australian gear wont cut it in negative 15 degrees and is very expensive) to get you started our boards, bindings, boots, goggles, helmets, jackets, pants, gloves and a beanie or two set us back around $2000 each. (a ski package will set you back even more) Plus not to mention we also had to buy general snow boots for our jobs which easily sets you back $200 for a decent pair (do not skimp out here, having cold feet while working is unpleasant and you'll need them for 5 months)

General need to know.

Its a good idea to get an email address to contact someone at you local bank as the cost of calling them will generally be worth more than any issue itself.

Keep all important documents in one safe place (for your entire trip)

Get a copy of everything: passport, drivers license, LOI, flights, accommodation, visa's, including your bank cards. Leave this with a family member or close friend encase something happens to yours.

Carry on luggage- take a spare change of close & tooth brush & paste incase your luggage gets delayed/lost, or your plane gets delayed/cancelled. Trust me Im happy we did this.

Always ask before doing something if your unsure! The Working Holiday Club is there for you 24/7 use their services an ask any question relation to you working holiday throughout your season. They are well educated and always give honest fair answers to everything! Remember you are their clients and they want to look after you to ensure you have the best possible experience.

Chapter 38 "Silver Star Mountain Harlem Shake"

Harlem Shake (meme)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Harlem Shake is an Internet meme in the form of a video in which a group of people performs a comedy sketch accompanied by a short excerpt from the song "Harlem Shake". As a meme, the video was replicated by many people, using the same concept, and this rapidly led to it becoming viral in early February 2013,[1] with thousands of "Harlem Shake" videos being made and uploaded to YouTube every day at the height of its popularity.[2]
The form of the meme was established in a video uploaded on February 2 by five teenagers from QueenslandAustralia known on YouTube as The Sunny Coast Skate.[2][3] The video started a viral trend of people uploading their own "Harlem Shake" videos to YouTube.[4] The teenagers' video was, in its turn, a follow-up to a video by a YouTube comedy vlogger named Filthy Frank[3][5][6] which featured a section where several costumed people danced to the song "Harlem Shake" by Baauer.[7][8]

So now that your well aquatinted with what the Harlem Shake is; you can watch the following clip not thinking the Silver Star Staff have taken illegal substances.

No animals were harmed in the making of this video.
However one or two Working Holiday Club Members may have kinked a neck or two with the repetitive actions of this dance.

(Big kudos to MK from lift ops for organising the crew to create the following clip) they all did an amazing job of their rendition of the harlem shake!
